For my summative brief I have chosen House of Hackney as my brand.

Founded by couple Frieda Gormley and Javvy M. Royle as a brand House of Hackney refuse to follow the latest trends, and instead create designs that offer longevity in both their aesthetic and quality. Rebelling against ‘beige’, the brand focuses on modern maximalism creating bright chintz, clashing botanical and exotic prints.

House of Hackney celebrates vibrant colours, texture and exotic print, while still managing to be quintessentially British. The brand creates unique interior and fashion designs to prove that bold print and strong colour can work in any setting, creating a fun and vibrant way of living life.

With a strong love for interiors and a past in both fashion and design House of Hackney was founded by partners Frieda Gormley and Javvy M. Royle, when they were unable to find the unique wallpaper they needed to decorate their London town house.

House of Hackney are inspired by the Loddiges Victorian nursey garden. The nursery was a pioneer in the import and cultivation of the exotic plants that were being brought into Britain. The nursery provided plants to major gardens such as Kew and Woburn Abbey during this time.

The brand are also very eco conscious, using only certified paper and water based to create their wallpaper, which are all PVC free. Their fabrics are all Oeko-Tex certified meaning they are free from chemicals that harm the environment.
