Paula Scher is an American graphic designer. I watched a documentary series at the end of last term on Netflix called ‘Abstract’ featuring different episodes about art and design. One of these episodes was on Paula. I found out so much about her work and thought it was really interesting exploring the world of graphic design.

I liked her work as she really took into consideration how to incorporate letters and words into the designs. She also considered the target audience and creates work that would appeal to them specifically. Her years of experience really create amazing pieces of graphic design that people remember.

The Public Theatre-

Scher was given the task of creating a new identity for the public theatre to make it appeal to more people. She used graphics that were used in street photography and was inspired by Rob Ray Kelley’s American wood types.

O

ne of her most famous pieces of work is the album cover she created for Boston’s hit ‘more than a feeling’ in 1976.
