The story of Scent

As humans we like things that smell good and please the senses. Perfumes, candles, toiletries etc. They bring us joy, nostalgia and can change the way we feel. For many, scents can bring back memories long forgotten and create new ones. Perfume in particular for that very reason is loved and treasured by millions of us across the world. Scents give you the ability to go back in time reminding you of certain moments from your past, and can help to create new memories. They give us a whiff of glamour and sophistication that some of us can only dream of experiencing. 

While on the New York trip I was lucky enough to attend the fragrance talk held by Virginia Bonfiglio at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She spoke about the top US sellers in fragrance and the current fragrance trends. These trends were the use of technology to enhance the shopping experience, customisation of scent and added benefits to fragrance. While we were there we were shown many different perfumes and told what scent accords they were made up of and we also got the opportunity to create our own fragrance. It was a really interesting insight into the world of fragrance and has opened my eyes to what the industry has to offer.
