Remembering Azzedine Alaïa

After sadly finding out that Azzedine Alaia had passed away, I began to think about the influence he had imprinted on the fashion industry. As an amazing couturier, Alaia understood the female form like no other, making beautiful clothes for women awarding him the title 'King of cling' for his bodycon designs which grew his popularity massively in the 1980s. As a man who refused to follow trends and remained uninterested by the norm, he truly created work that was individually and unapologetically his.

His first ready to wear collection was in 1980 which allowed him to surge to fame within the industry. His designs have been worn by women all over the world, empowering them and making them feel beautiful and powerful. Alaia's warm and kind personality gave him many loyal friends who will be heartbroken at this awful news of his passing, however the world will continue to enjoy his beautiful creations and remember the mark he made upon the world.
